After Interview, Racist Minorities Sure To Brand Denzel Washington “Uncle Tom”

Commenting on his new movie about a defense attorney whose ideals are tested at a new law firm, Academy Award winning actor Denzel Washington said the film did not change his views about justice in America, and when it comes to the so-called prison-industrial complex, he said the real factor is home life and two parents — “It starts at home” and it “starts with how you raise your children.”

In an interview with the N.Y. Daily News when asked about the justice system and prison, Washington said, “It starts at home. It starts at home.”

When asked to expand on his answer, Washington said, “It starts with how you raise your children.”

“If a young man doesn’t have a father figure, he’ll go find a father figure,” said Washington.

“So, you know, I can’t blame the system,” he said. “It’s unfortunate that we make such easy work for them.”

Denzel Washington, 62, is married and has four children. He has been nominated for the Academy Award six times. He won the Best Actor Academy Award in 2002 and the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1990. He has won three Golden Globe Awards and 17 Film Critic Awards. His latest movie is entitled “Roman J. Israel, Esq.”

Washington says he is not worrying about what his fans will make of this film.

“I just do what I do,” the “Training Day” star said. “I can’t be concerned. I don’t know what they’re going to think, so that’s not something that comes into my head. . . . If it’s something I’m interested in, then I do it if I can, and we’ll find out what they think about it.”
