Jefferson City Overpass Rally Asks Democrats to Walk Away From Corrupted Party #WalkAway #Democrats

With afternoon traffic backing up vehicles on U.S. 54 Friday, people decked in red waved American and President Donald Trump flags from the top the West Main Street bridge, receiving several car honks in support.

About a half-dozen people waved to the passing vehicles around 4 p.m. Friday. The group represented Courtland Sykes, a Republican running in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race.

“I thought this was a good time and the traffic is obviously good exposure, so we’re getting a great response all the way around,” Holts Summit resident Donna Reagan said, adding the demonstration also provides a way to show patriotism and increase awareness of Sykes’ campaign.

Along with their flags, they hung up a #WalkAway banner, a movement signifying people are walking away from the Democratic Party. The movement began after Brandon Straka posted a YouTube video in May, saying he used to be part of the Democratic Party but was “walking away” from it.

“We want to make sure people know that me, as a Republican, I welcome them into my party,” Reagan said. “They’re just tired of the Democratic rhetoric going on because there’s been a lot of it. I don’t want them to get frustrated with the politics.”
