Harvey Weinstein accuser and outspoken voice of the #MeToo movement Asia Argento has handled her own sexual assault case on the down-low, making an arrangement to pay Jimmy Bennett, who accused her of sexually assaulting him in 2013.
According to the New York Times, the Italian actress has arranged a deal to pay actor/musician Bennett $380,000. The Times said that the alleged assault happened months past his 17th birthday in a California hotel room. Argento was 37 at the time.
In court documents, a selfie with the two lying in bed was included. In their agreement, Bennett gave the photo and its copyright to Argento.
Argento’s lawyer, Carrie Goldberg has not made an official comment and Bennett has not released a statement. However, Bennett’s lawyer, Gordon K. Sattro told the Times: “In the coming days, Jimmy will continue doing what he has been doing over the past months and years, focusing on his music.”
A letter to Argento from Goldberg said that the money was to help Bennett. “We hope nothing like this ever happens to you again,” Goldberg wrote. “You are a powerful and inspiring creator and it is a miserable condition of life that you live among shitty individuals who’ve preyed on both your strengths and your weaknesses.”
According to the documents, Bennett’s initial notice of intent to sue was for $3.5 million in damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress, lost wages, assault and battery.
Bennett did not sign a non-disclosure agreement, in part because California law prohibits NDAs in civil cases that contain claims like Bennett’s. In the documents, Goldberg writes that Argento could work around the California law by using New York lawyers and claiming New York law governs the contract, but Argento opted not to pursue that course.
Argento was one of the 13 women included in the first October 2017 New Yorker report about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment and assault that dated back decades.
In October, Ronan Farrow wrote a New Yorker article where Argento accused Weinstein of forcibly performing oral sex on her 20 years ago. Farrow writes he was told by 13 women that Weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted them, with three claiming rape and four saying they experienced unwanted touching that could be classified as an assault.
When the scandal first broke, Hollywood leftists were falling over each other to have their turn in front of the cameras feigning outrage over Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s perversion.
Somehow, like magic, for decades actors, actresses, directors, and other producers and studios claim they never saw any untoward behavior by the now-disgraced Weinstein. Putting their blinders on for the sake of the almighty dollar, they refused to do anything about his actions.
As could be expected, now George Clooney has now admitted that he never took the allegations seriously, despite knowing about them for a long time.
Despite it being an unspoken “secret” in Hollywood, Clooney claims he never saw the producer’s behavior and never believed the decades of claims that he was a sexual predator, according to Daily Caller.
“He gave me my first big break as an actor in films on ‘From Dusk till Dawn,’ he gave me my first big break as a director with “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.’ We’ve had dinners, we’ve been on location together, we’ve had arguments. But I can tell you that I’ve never seen any of this behavior—ever,” Clooney told The Daily Beast in an exclusive interview.
Clooney claims he never saw any proof of the accusations against Weinstein that have been whispered around Hollywood for 3 decades.
“I’ve heard rumors, and the rumors in general started back in the nineties, and they were that certain actresses had slept with Harvey to get a role,” Clooney explained. “It seemed like a way to smear the actresses and demean them by saying that they didn’t get the jobs based on their talent, so I took those rumors with a grain of salt.”
“But the other part of this, the part we’re hearing now about eight women being paid off, I didn’t hear anything about that and I don’t know anyone that did,” Clooney added. “That’s a whole other level and there’s no way you can reconcile that. There’s nothing to say except that it’s indefensible.”
Despite this well-known “secret” that has been known in Hollywood for decades, both Weinstein’s peers and the liberal media have chose to let things slide with no recriminations.
Never mind the fact that Weinstein is now accused of not just sexual harassment, but of multiple counts of outright rape.
A sane person would wonder why anyone would tolerate such heinous behavior, but Democrats still support serial molester Bill Clinton, so are you surprised at all?
As the saying goes, timing is everything. So why did Weinstein fall from grace now, and not decades ago?
The answer: Money, and lots of it.
For decades, Weinstein was one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood. He could make or break a career with a single phone call if he decided to do so.
And because of Hollywood’s love of money, the entire industry remained utterly silent about Weinstein’s moral perversion and criminal behavior.
Unfortunately for Weinstein, and fortunately for his victims, his power has been weakening in recent years, and that made him expendable. Now the Hollyweird perverts can sacrifice him on the alter of faux outrage, and continue on with their culture of deviancy and perversion.
What this all proves is two things. Democrats are the champions of hypocrisy, completely lacking in genuine morals, and will devour one of their own when they are no longer useful.
I would like to thank them though, because they’ve once more proven the Bible correct. The love of money IS the root of all evil.
1 Timothy 6:10 King James Version
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
