First Lady Melania Trump underwent a kidney surgery at Walter Reed Medical Center on Monday, according to a statement released by The White House.
First Lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful and there were no complications.
Our great First Lady is doing really well. Will be leaving hospital in 2 or 3 days. Thank you for so much love and support!

Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The First Lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.
Trump most recently launched the “BE BEST” campaign which was described as a “multi-pronged effort to promote the well-being of children,” according to The Associated Press. Trump launched this campaign in order to fight bullying in schools.
She was also on hand last week to welcome three freed Korean-American hostages as they returned to the United States from North Korea. She greeted the former detainees at Joint Base Andrews together with President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other administration officials.
Trump recently went viral after posing with former Presidents George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama as well as former first ladies Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. The picture was taken during former first lady Barbara Bush’s funeral.
A CNN poll from earlier this month revealed her popularity has risen, especially among women and Democrats, at 57 percent – up from 47 percent in January.
Trump is the first U.S. first lady to seek medical treatment through such a serious procedure since Nancy Reagan had a mastectomy in October 1987. Jimmy Carter’s wife Rosalynn had surgery to remove a benign lump from her breast in April 1977. In Sept. 1974, Gerald Ford’s wife Betty was also diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy.
