Actor and activist Jim Carrey had some advice for Democrats when he appeared on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” over the weekend.
“We have to say yes to socialism — to the word and everything,” the millionaire filmmaker said.
“We have to stop apologizing,” he added.
The comment came after host Bill Maher expressed outrage that Republicans are attacking Democrats who veer toward the extreme and express a love for socialism — a model of government that has destroyed other countries.
“But that word—the Democrats need to get a plan to fight this slander of, ‘Socialism, you’re going to be living in Venezuela,’” said Maher. “And I don’t see it yet.”
Those were interesting statements, of course.
The “Dumb and Dumber” star worked his way up from standup comedian in Canada to one of the biggest movie stars in America.
He went from small parts in films like 1988’s “The Dead Pool” to lead roles in ’90s classics like “Liar Liar” and “The Mask.”
It came down to hard work, perseverance and, dare we say, ambition.
Check out a clip of the two men talking about the socialism issue on “Real Time” below:
Here's a better idea. Jim Carrey deports himself back to the land of squirrel & moose where he can be a happy #Socialist, while we remain #capitalist here in #America. Sounds like a more than fair compromise. pic.twitter.com/LnWrst6zlX

Recently, Actor Jim Carrey has put his brush to the canvas once more to paint an unflattering picture of President Trump’s Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Carrey painted a caricature of 35-year-old Huckabee Sanders depicting her as a angry-looking woman complete with a ruddy complexion and furrowed brow, reports IJR.
The actor shared the painting online this weekend. It is clear he is not a fan of her or her boss, although he didn’t mention her specifically by name in his tweet.
Carrey tweeted the image to his 18 million followers on Saturday night.
He captioned his artwork: ‘This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!’

Back in the day, I thought you were one of the funniest actors alive. I'm not sure what happened, but you really need to give up the political opinions and go back to bathroom humor where people loved you.

Carrey has been outspoken in his dislike for Trump administration over the past year.
The Ace Ventura star has been taking a break from films to devote more time to painting.
He told a magazine last year that creating political art isn’t a new concept for him.
In a 2017 documentary I Needed Color, Carrey revealed his new creative outlet, which he said he uses to ‘heal a broken heart.’
He has painted a number of other famous figures in recent months including the late Stephen Hawking whom Carrey referred to as the ‘greatest mental athlete of our time’ in the wake of his death.
