Alert: This is not satire, although it certainly sounds like it.
The Aldi grocery chain has recalled a brand of nuts from its shelves because the packages don’t include a warning that among the contents are — nuts.
The supermarket chain says the Clancy’s Barbecue Flavour Coated Peanuts contain cashew nuts, which is not printed on the label, and is advising anyone with a nut allergy to avoid them. Anyone who has purchased a pack of the peanuts in a 200g pack size, with ‘Best before’ end: 07/2018, and Batch code: 7292 7291, is advised to return it to the store it was bought from The News in Australia reports.
Though the Barbecue Flavor Coated Peanuts are only available in three regional areas – Neston, Darlington and Goldthorpe, there are fears it could’ve been bought by customers from anywhere in the UK passing through these regions.
No other Aldi products are thought to be affected. A reaction to peanuts is one of the most common food allergies, but peanuts are from the legume plant family, and in fact grow underground.
Cashews are part of the tree nut family alongside almonds and walnuts, and have been found by some studies to cause an even more severe allergic reaction.
Given the fact that people even need warning labels for something so obvious highlights how modern society keeps stupid people alive by protecting them from things that would have killed them through stupidity, thus weakening the intellect gene pool of humanity.
At the rate we’re going, Idiocracy will be reality, not a comedy.
Can we just remove warning labels from EVERYTHING, and let nature take its course? One thing is for certain, there would be a lot fewer liberals haunting the planet.
