Reuters reports that an indictment was approved by a federal grand jury in Washington in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
The charges are sealed, so the target of the indictment will not be known, or what the charges entail until the warrant is carried out against the accused party.
Mueller was appointed in May to probe Russian efforts to interfere in the U.S. election and any coordination between the Kremlin and associates of President Trump’s campaign.
He is also authorized to investigate any matters that arise directly out of that investigation.
It is reported that the target of the indictment could be taken into custody as soon as Monday.
The spokesman for the Special Council’s office, Peter Carr, declined to comment.
The alleged indictment comes months after the special counsel team intensified its focus on Mr. Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort.
Manafort’s home Virginia home was raided in search of tax documents and foreign banking records. Mr. Manafort previously worked for a Ukrainian political party, as did Hillary’s campaign manager, Podesta.
Saturday, Mr. Manafort’s spokesman, Jason Maloni, said he had “heard nothing” about any looming arrest or any indictment.
Mueller has heard calls for his resignation over a conflict of interest due to his personally being involved with an Obama regime deal to surrender 20% of America’s uranium reserves to Russia.
Mr. Trump has refuted allegations his campaign colluded with Russia, referring to the special counsel investigation as a “witch hunt.”
